Was hippie hair wavy or straight?

Peace sign necklace

long hair straight or curly....doesn't matter but it HAS to be parted down the middle!!!!

Tye died shirts

Head band - you know around the top of your head...

Very plain make-up or none at all

Clunky clog type shoes or strappy sandals

It depends on what you're going for. There's the more Cher look which was PIN straight and then there was a beachy wave that was very popular, too...Either way, as long as your hair is VERY LONG your point will get across.

I would go for some sandals, bell-bottom pants (or jeans), a vest of some kind, sunglasses, and a peace sign somewhere, draw a peace sign or a heart with lipstick on your cheek and you'll be set.

Agree with Gem.

And:

Try a skinny headband (around your forehead to the back of the head, not accross the top)

Almost anything beaded.

Or flowers in your hair (like a headband)

Hippies wore long hair whether it be straight or wavy. They wore long flowing robes, headbands, bandanas, granny framed glasses lots of long beads and chains.Bright coloured shirts and patched jeans.Bell bottom trousers.Hope this helps.

There was a lot of very long, straight hair, but there was also a lot of "electric" hair, similar to an Afro but combed or brushed instead of picked. But the cool thing about being a hippie was that you could fit in without fitting in.

Bellbottoms and boots or sandals were popular, but a lot of people took their old jeans, opened up the seams below the knee, sewed in a triangular wedge of bright-patterned cloth to make them wider, and added a 2- or 3-inch wide band around the bottom to make them drag on the ground. Underwear was always optional.

Buttons were also popular, such as "Support Peace or I'll Kill You!" or "Acid Burned a Hole in My Genes."

Speaking of hippies, I just saw an ad in the paper. A carpet company is giving away a free pad! Far out, man!
