I fully straigthen my hair with a flatiron, and then an hour later its wavy again?

My mom says its because of the humidity. Which could be why. Its not as wavy as it was before I straighten it, but it does get wavy. And since my hair lays on my shoulders, it takes that shape all the time, too.

Any advice on how to stop this?

You can try anti-frizz serums and shampoos. If you wash your hair before you straighten it, dry it completely first, unless your straightener specifically states that it can be used on damp hair. You can also use heat treatment products, that you apply to your hair before you use any heating tools such as blow dryers, straighteners and curling tongs. These protect your hair from burning. Another thing you can try is blasting your hair with cool air from a blow dryer (if it has this function). Cool air helps close the cuticles, making hair smoother and less frizzy. You can also rinse with cold water after you wash your hair. Hope this helps!

i'm one of those people that straighten their hair pretty much every day, so take my advice when i say, use a straightening cream and a straightening shampoo. i use sunsilk "straighten up". here's the link:

you apply the cream before you blowdry your hair. then straighten your hair and you'll have perfectly straight hair that wont wave, no matter what.

try letting your hair grow longer which would make it a lil heavier...... also try an anti-humectant, aveda makes a great one. or go with what you were born with.

where do you live? is it humid where you live?

That could contribute....

what type of flat iron are you using?

i need more info to give you the correct answer....

There is different technologys the flat irons are made with.... the price difference's are not just for the 'looks' there are a number of different methods of making the actual flat irons...

and its the same old line,"you get what you pay for" unfortunately....

cheap flat iron.......lousy results.......

spending at least $80. on a flat iron is what i recommend or i recommend NOT using one if you cannot spend at least that amount.

The condition of your hair is much more important.

Please be sure you are applying some sort of silicone thermal protection serum....as well, which helps the cuticle lay flat which will not only help the flat iron do its job it will also protect your hair from damage AND help the straightening job last longer.

There is a list of silicone serums on my hair blog

if you don't know what I am referring to....
