I am not sure about the price, but the services at WalMart Salon are pretty good. My mother started going there about a year ago, and I laughed, because wehave always been patrons of "high end" salons. Her hair looked great though. She wasn't getting anything too complicated, a relaxer and trim. Occasionally a color treatment. Why do you want a perm?

If your hair is thick and medium length, you don't want to perm it. It will just look like spaghetti once it's done. You should just try using a curling iron first to see that you think. But it shouldn't cost too much to do there, if you do decide to do it. Good luck!!!
