I have extremley thick wavy frizzy nappy hair.?

i am getting really sick of blow drying it then straightning it every other day it takes me about an hour and a half or two hours to blow dry and straighten it and it still is frizzy and very thick. i have tried the leave in conditioners, which make it look oily, i have tried the straightning sierum, and the anti frizz stuff and none of that really seems to work very well. what can i do to get the frizz and reduce the thickness. i have thought about shaving it and starting over but i dont know if that would worsen it or not. i am just so fed up with it at this point. please if you have any kind of advice on what to do please please let me know. thank you.

First off, go to a hairstylist and get an updated hair cut that will make your hair easier to manage. You have to cut out some of the layers so it's not so thick. You also should maybe get it professionally straightened so you have a smoother hair grain to style and it doesn't get frizzy or nappy that often. It would be worth the money if you could keep the style up for a few months at a time honey.

well, I don't know if this would help you but it helped my sister. Crack an egg and take the yellow stuff out and mix the transparent stuff in your hair you leave it for about 15 minutes and you wash it off. It helps to stop frizzy hair.

i have the EXACT same problem!!

what i did, was first i took a pair of scissors that has like slots on each side kinda like this : |_|_|_|_|

its a pair of scissors, called pretty much hair thinning scissors. i lifted up my top layer of hair, and underneath just a lot of hair out, but be careful to cut a few times and brush the hair out, cause if you try to cut and pull, it hurts TERRIBLY! lol. after that, i took the same pair of scissors, and kind of thinned the last inch and a half of the ends of my hair, to give the illusion of lighter and more airy hair. after my thick hair was taken care of, i used a relaxer (try soft sheen carson, it doesnt damage hair, in fact it prolly improved my hair) the relaxer made my hair much more naturally straight, so i have a lot less straightening to do. if there is a poofyness problem, try sunsilk anti-poof shampoo/conditioner in the blue bottle, or try sunsilk for frizz in the green bottle. both work great, but the most important part is that you use both the shampoo and conditioner, and not too much because your hair can come easily weighed down and oily looking. : (

i would advise not blow drying AND straightening your hair, because blow drying is a lot more trouble than its worth in my opinion, because your hair will dry anyways, and i dont think it makes my hair that much straighter. i would advise letting your hair air dry, then straighten. try herbal essences dangerously straight flat iron spray, in small spritzes, and your hair gets really soft and shiny. also, i got this one tool, that i can practically NOT straighten without now. its like a pair of tongs with a brush on each end, and you clamp it on the section of hair you have sectioned off, and it pulls the hair taught and makes straightening soooo much easier, it cut my straightening time down a lot!!

its by conair, and you can get it at pretty much any drug stores. it is suppost to be for blow drying, but i use it for straightening. if you ever do want to use it for blow drying tho, it does work. doing blow drying with a flat paddle brush is so hard!

another thing maybe you could try would be to put a hat on while your hair is drying. only do it if you have a good 2-3 hours for you hair to dry though, because it does make your hair dry slower. i found that alot of the frizzies/poof/volume of my hair was coming from at the roots, so i put the hat on and now my hair drys much flatter. also, maybe use a smaller flat iron, like a 3/4'' one for getting up to the top of the roots.

dont shave your head, because i cut my hair shorter and it is total madness trying to get my hair straight and flat!!! i am never cutting it this short again ; P

lol good luck!!

ok well go get a haircut and ask them to thin it out for you. as for the frizzyness...i use frizz-eaze! i think it works really good. also in the shower rinse your hair with cooler water. it help reduce your chance of frizyness against humidity.
