Try to let it air-dry when you get out of the shower. Just dry it off with a towel so it doesn't drip everywhere, but it is still damp.

braid your hair and go to sleep, when you wake up it's really wavy. or wear the braids for a few hours and then brush your hair out.

Braid it while it's wet and let it dry completely before undoing it. Btw, I totally wish I had superstraight hair. Even when I straighten my hair w/ an uber good straightener, it still curls up.

try braiding it when it is wet/damp. sleep with it in a braid and it should have some wave in the morning.

you tell me.....I've tried everything.....the scrunching with mouse (sp?) gallons of hairspray with the iron.......french braids with tons and tons of spray......but that only stays for like 20 minutes!!!

Use the curling iron like you have, but instead of using spray, use a gel, or Garnier Fructis styling smoothing milk. The hair sort of absorbs it, and keeps it in that position for much longer. :]

Go to a salon and ask them what their best gel is to make your hair wavy/curly.. when you put it in, scrunch your hair from the bottom of your hair to the top of your head... let it air dry, and you should have some pretty good wave to it...good luck!

after taking a shower, wrap ur damp hair in a bun or braids depending on how curly you want it. tada-wake up with luscious curls!!!!

(make sure b4 u pull out or let loose bun spray with a bottle of hairspray..AND DON'T WET ur hair)

you could try curlformers you can get them at sally beauty supply stores for about $11 per pack of eight. Or you could get umberto beverly hills texturizer styling cream for $10

Curls would always fall out of my long straight hair, even with hot curlers at a professional salon.

You do have a few options.

1. cut your hair shorter. Long hair weighs down curls and often they fall out faster. Hair that never had a natural curl may develop one at shorter lengths even.

2. get a perm. Perms don't have to be super curly. Though they are also very bad for your hair (be ready for dry damaged hair.) Of course then you don't have to keep styling it. So you loose soem and you gain some, if its worth it to you go for it.

3. Braid or curl your hair wet.

After you wash your hair, while its still wet braid your hair. (If your hair is very thick and will not dry braided, braid it damp but almost dry then spritz the ourside with water-don't soak it.)

Whenever it has dried on the surface (later that evening or the next morning depending when you showered) spray it with leave in conditioner. Leave it up and let that dry. Sleep with it up over night. Once it is dry in the morning take it down.

Brush your scalp but not the wavy parts.

For smaller waves have more braids.

For curls do the same thing but instead of braiding take sections of hair, twist them up into small circles (like tiny buns) on your head and use bobby pins to hold them down to your head.

That is what I do, I never need hairspray or a blow dryer. The key here is that you need to do this every time you wash your hair, you will find over time it will take that shape easier and last longer. Just be careful not to secure your braids to loose over night (or they will fall out) or to tight (causeing broken ends and split ends.)
