Use a glaze. It will make your hair shiny and much healthier-looking. You don't have to use a color glaze, Clairol makes a clear one. Sorry, I don't know any herbal remedies. If your hair is very dry from only using the herbal extracts, may be you should try regular products for a bit, just to get it back in shape.

the only way you can make your hair shining is to put grease on it.the only way i know to make my hair wavy is by putting jel on it.

try diamond drops spritz. or do a hot oil treatment. i have black hair too, i condition it a lot and use either diamond drops that i find at the beauty supply or sometimes african oil (mainly in the winter time cause the cold air drys it out so bad). also protein treatments help keep it strong. the healthier looking the better. i use egyptian protein (it smells like cow manure though to be honest, but it doesn't leave your hair smelling that way. lol and the effects are brilliant!!!)

My grandma is a hairdresser and she told me that if you want you hair to shine mix an egg with some conditioner and wash your hair with this.

Some Do's and Dont's:

DO use heat-activated shampoos, conditioners and styling products like those from ThermaSilk, Vidal Sassoon and Neutrogena. Their moisturizers are released by the heat of your hairdryer.

DO treat yourself to a weekly deep-conditioning treatment or hair mask like Joico K-Pak.

DO use your fingers to separate your curls once your hair is dry, if it is curly. A brush will cause your hair to frizz.

DO try a shine-enhancing hair-color product like Revlon Super Lustrous or L'Or鑼卆l F鑼卹ia if you're going to color your hair at home.

DON'T apply finishing products too close to your scalp -- your hair will look greasy.

DON'T weigh down fine hair with a heavy serum formulated only for very thick hair.

DON'T apply a ton of product before using a straightening iron. A sticky gel not designed to protect the hair can actually "cook" it.

DON'T use a plastic vent brush to detangle wet hair. It stretches and eventually snaps the hair. Use it to brush as you blowdry, to give your hair a sleeker look.
