How do I make my hair wavy like in the 20's (or is it 30's or 40's)?

You need to pin curl the hair to start with then set it in finger waves to get the right look. When pin curling make sure you don't twist the hair and that you curl each row in the opposite direction to the previous row which will help to develop a wave. Once you've taken the pin curls out you'll need to add some setting lotion or light hold gel and start putting in the finger waves. It's a difficult process to describe so you're best to look for pictures.

pin curls.

they are really tricky to do on yourself so get your hairdresser to help show you how to do it first.

Unless it's natural, you need to get a fat curling iron and loosely curl and brush (not to much to control frizz) then apply your makeup (esp. red lipstick for that extra 20's look) depending on your hair length it should take between 15 minutes to 45 minutes.

The cheapest possible way to make your hair wavy like girls in the 20s is to take sections of your har and wrap them around strips of rolled up papertowels. Twist the hair around the paper towls and roll up and secure the sections.

Spritz with heavy duty hair spray and wait for an hour or two.

Or use hairdryer to speed process.

Well, when I had that type of hairstlye I brought a Waving Iron and made the 1930's waves myself.

Have you ever heard the term :pincurl?

You wrap a section of hair about 1" square around your finger. When you get the section right up against your head you put a hair clip on it. Make one row go one way and the next go the other way.

You can also roll your hair in narrow sections toward the front and the next toward the back. and do this all over your head. When you comb it out just 'push ' the waves in. It works I have done it. I made a side part and put the first row on top of my head going forward(this actually makes the back part of the wave) then the next row was about half way on my crown and to my part.....sounds complicated but just try it you will understand when you start rolling. Use smallish rollers and do it with medium damp hair and use a medium to hard hold gel like product.

Is there a way to make your hair (permanently?) wavy? but like not expensive?

try a perm. if you dont want to spend the salon money go to your local beauty school. theyre normally very cheap maybe like 15-30 dollars as opposed to $60 and up. the students are under the complete supervision of teachers and the teachers pick the chemicals and such so you wont receive a bad style. most beauty schools turn out great work!

a perm?

Is there a way to make your hair (permanently?) wavy? but like not expensive?

the only was is to get a perm or spiral perm, there like $80

you could curl it everyday with rollers or a hair iron though

Is there a way to make your hair (permanently?) wavy? but like not expensive?

you can try a perm with larger rods!

Is there a way to make your hair (permanently?) wavy? but like not expensive?

Well,I don't think you can get it Permanently Wavy, because if you could you would have to change your DNA,and that is just impossible. You could get it permed or treated to stay like that for a couple of months and go back for touch ups every 5-8 months, but you will never get it permanently wavy.

How can i make my hair wavy with a normal hairbrush?

use a blower and a roller brush, ive done it before.. its much easy if you have thick hair..

How can i make my hair wavy with a normal hairbrush?

that would be difficult with a brush.. here's a tip~ if your hair is long enough, braid it while it is "slightly" damp the night before you go to bed....in the morning release the braides and you should have gentle waves....you can neatly tuck the ends with a curling iron if needed.

Otherwise, to make it wavy, use a product that has a slight waxiness to it and "scrunch while drying it in your hands witha diffuser dryer...

My hair is long, wavy and thick... it gets very notted how do I prevent this? Also what is a good st

I could really use some styling tips I want to get my hair cut but i am unsure of what to do so here is a little about me...

face shape: Oval

Thick long hair

Have short layers and tried to cut my own bangs but it looks bad

dark blonde hair, fair skin

what would be a good style and cut?

Have any pictures of websites to look at?

Thank you very much for reading!

My hair is long, wavy and thick... it gets very notted how do I prevent this? Also what is a good style?

With whatever style you choose, try using a tight head scarf at night or while doing household chores. My hair is long and very curly and gets frizzy. But, all I have to do is wear a plain old scarf in a triangle tied in the back of my head for about two hours and presto, it's silky soft and no more kinkiness. Stays that way, too, until I wash it again. Then, it's back to every-which-way curls.

My hair is long, wavy and thick... it gets very notted how do I prevent this? Also what is a good style?

when you sleep you should wear a hair cap and try straighting it with a hair straightner

My hair is long, wavy and thick... it gets very notted how do I prevent this? Also what is a good style?

you should definately get your hair trimmed regularly. that wil pevent the knotting. and use a good conditioner.

as far as cuts and styles...you should go see your stylist. they will have books you can look at and will be able to answer any questions for you.

My hair is long, wavy and thick... it gets very notted how do I prevent this? Also what is a good style?

After you shampoo, take a warm glass of filtered water with 1 tablespoon vinegar and use it as a final rinse. It really does make your hair smooth and shiny. Works for me!

My hair is long, wavy and thick... it gets very notted how do I prevent this? Also what is a good style?

To prevent the knotting:

When u r washing your hair and you apply conditioner, use a medium wide teeth comb to comb the conditioner thru your hair before u rinse.

At night before u sleep , apply a light hair moisturizer, comb it thru and braid it so it is kept neat thru the night.

My hair is long, wavy and thick... it gets very notted how do I prevent this? Also what is a good style?

get some lowlights.(brown highlights)darken up the look..cut ur hair to ur sholders..get long layers.side bang perhaps?

My hair is long, wavy and thick... it gets very notted how do I prevent this? Also what is a good style?

well i wouldnt perm it that makes it thin and staight like every bodi elses hair and girl you want to be original! to keep it from knotts you should braid it into four or three every night. thats what i do but i have black hair and the results might be different for different texured hair. Style...hmm... a side swept bang with your hair flipping up. hers a tip for you girl dont do it your self!

My hair is long, wavy and thick... it gets very notted how do I prevent this? Also what is a good style?

it looks pretty similar.

How can I make my hair wavy by myself?

The best way to get wavy hair without damaging it is to braid it when it's wet. When you let the braids out you'll have soft waves.

How can I make my hair wavy by myself?

you'll gel, hairspray spritz, wet hair pick the gel in, spray with the spritz , just add mousee crunch your hair..

How can I make my hair wavy by myself?

you could braid it when its wet but in big braids so you get big waves

or you could get a large diameter curling iron barell and curl it like that loosely

My hair is naturally wavy/frizz and i straighten it, how can i get it to look more smoothly natural

cuz my hair is all crappy, and it just doesn't look naturally because of my split ends..and even if i cut it...they still come back!! i dunno if it's cuz i straighten my hair or what!? and i can't seem to get my hair to stay straight also..i dunno..help?!

My hair is naturally wavy/frizz and i straighten it, how can i get it to look more smoothly natural straight?

I have the same type of hair, and I've straightened it about every day for 3 years. First, you should thoroughly wash your hair, and intensely condition it with Neutrogena 60 second hair repair conditioner. Just let it sit in your hair for a minute, and you'll notice that it's smoother. Then towel dry your hair, and turn your straightening iron on maximum heat. Instead of straighteningyour hair after it dries naturally (i don't know whether you do that or not), blow dry it as straight as possible by using a big round brush on sections of your hair, while blowdrying up and down. But only blowdry one side of your head at a time. When you're done blowdrying the first side, take your straightener and SLOWLY glide it from your scalp to the ends. However, don't leave it in one spot for very long at all, or it will cause split ends. Continue that with different small sections until your hair is straight. Do the same with the other side of your hair. Now as for trying to make your hair stay straight, you could do this at night before you go to bed, and then in the morning, go back over it with your straightening iron again. Or if you take a shower and do your hair in the morning like I do, put a non-hardening gel through your hair after your shower, and comb it through. Then straighten your hair like I just said, and hairspray it with Garnier Fructis Hairspray- it doesn't make your hair all stiff.

I've also gotten tired of straightening my hair the same old way every day. Try something new with your hair! Change is always good! One way to style your hair is to wait until it dries natural and wavy. Then take a one inch section of your hair, and hairspray it. Take a one-inch barrel curling iron and curl the strand. Then hairspray it again. Do the same throughout your whole head. Another beautiful, beachy way to do your hair, is after you take a shower at night, put gel in your hair and comb it through. Part your hair how you want it for the next morning. Then divide each side of your hair into four sections, that means eight sections altogether. Braid each section and secure with an elastic. You should have 4 braids on each side. Then take two of the four braids on one side, and twist it around the other two, and secure with an elastic. Do the same to the other side. When you wake up, take out the elastics (patiently! If you don't, you'll end up pulling some strands of hair out!) It should look like natural crimps/waves. I'm wearing my hair like that right now, I experimented last night! Well I hope this helped you a lot. %26lt;3

My hair is naturally wavy/frizz and i straighten it, how can i get it to look more smoothly natural straight?

Use a moisturising conditioner....like Vive`

My hair is naturally wavy/frizz and i straighten it, how can i get it to look more smoothly natural straight?

I have the same hair as you and I use protection spray/creme for my hair and it works GREAT! You can buy it at walgreens or CVS or something like that. Hope this helps! :) 閳?br>My hair is naturally wavy/frizz and i straighten it, how can i get it to look more smoothly natural straight?

I used to have the same problem, change your shampoo %26amp; conditioner to a kind that helps frizzy hair..for example jon frieda. Then buy john frieda hair serum and put it in your hair while its wet and just blow dry it and straighten it..that should help with your problem

My hair is naturally wavy/frizz and i straighten it, how can i get it to look more smoothly natural straight?

divide your hair into sections ( when its wet) blow dry each section and straighten them seperatley good luckkk.

My hair is naturally wavy/frizz and i straighten it, how can i get it to look more smoothly natural straight?

I have the exact same problem. Firstly, if it doesn't stay straight, they're probably not using enough chemical because they prefer to err on the side of not damaging your hair as much. Yes, if you cut it the split ends will still come back, better to not bother and instead use an emollient conditioner that is able to temporarily "glue" the ends back together for the day (doesn't last after you wash it out with shampoo at the end of the day, it's an every day fix it measure). The split ends are completely due to the straightening, and will continue to exist as long as you have chemically straightened hair. Get a good conditioner, and get in the habit of leaving it in your hair for 3-5 minutes in the shower every day. It's like a mini deep conditioning treatment, and the hair absorbs more. Deep conditioning treatments are also good to do every month. You can also use a straightening iron on your hair if you feel it isn't straight enough, just make sure to put a protecting agent of some sort on your hair beforehand (leave in conditioner, straightening lotion -- yes, they have that -- or what have you). Also, your hair may feel less straight if you've let the roots grow out too long, because then it's poofing out your hair from the top. To make it more naturally straight, you may want to try a leave in conditioner just to minimize any frizz, or maybe a shine serum.

To minimize damage, avoid the following:

bleaching

colouring

blow-drying

swimming too frequently in chlorine pools

vigorous brushing

too much sun exposure (it dries out the hair)

My hair is naturally wavy/frizz and i straighten it, how can i get it to look more smoothly natural straight?

my hair is the same way. I have found a hair straightener under $30 that works excelent. I use the Remington Wet to Straight. By straightening when the hair is damp, it actually makes it really soft and smooth, it also cuts down on frizz and the damage done to your hair. If you're looking for a little more volume, blow dry first and then section your hair and run the flat iron through, this gives it more volume and also makes it easier to curl the bottoms. My hair stays straight until i wash it. Hope this helps

i noe wut u mean..ive been trying to get that fer so long but my hair's too long n heavy

take a shower but when u get out dont blow dry it...immediately scrunch it a little with the towel and then massively sspray with hair spray or gel ur hair and keep scrunching it (up n down motion)

hope this helps! if not reply back

How do I get my hair wavy? like that crunchy almost wet look?

Make your hair wet and put mousse in it and scrunch it.

Your hair has to be wet first, otherwise it won't look good.

How do I get my hair wavy? like that crunchy almost wet look?

you scrunch your hair with a strong hold gel

wash your hair, comb it gently (don't use a brush!!), then wrap a towel around it for like 15 min. That will get most of the water out without you rubbing which causes fuzz. Then flip your head upside down and scrunch gel into it...if you have time use a blow drier on low heat and low air to quicken the drying process. I personally don't like it... it makes my hair feel dirty to me but really comes down to preference not opinions.

How do I get my hair wavy? like that crunchy almost wet look?

If you have the attachment that goes on the end of your hair dryer (diffuser). . . use that and gel or Aussie scrunching spray and as you dry your hair, use the blow dryer and scrunch your hair- like push the blow dryer from the ends to your scalp . . . and then when it's dry or almost dry, use some super hold hairspray and scrunch with your hands after you spray it . . . my hair is super straight, and this works for me . . .

How do I get my hair wavy? like that crunchy almost wet look?

alot of mousse and a TON of hair spray!!!!

How do I get my hair wavy? like that crunchy almost wet look?

it depends on if you already have some wave in your hair, if it is straight right out of the shower, good luck you will need curlers first then alot of hair spray and mousse

How do I get my hair wavy? like that crunchy almost wet look?

After you get out of the shower towel dry your hair(just get the excess water out of it) after that put a lot of gel in your hair then like scrunch it in your hands then let it dry!
